ARTIST STATEMENT
I work across painting, sculpture, photographic study, and projection-based installation to explore memory, systems, and material ritual. My current practice centers on collected and cast objects: resin forms, found materials, and reflective surfaces, assembled into altar-like structures that suggest soft systems of belief. Each piece becomes a temporary form of preservation, functioning as an archive, a study, or a shrine.
I’m drawn to translucent and cellular forms: glass, water, spores, orbs. These shapes echo themes of containment and distortion. They appear in my paintings as fractured geometries, in my sculptures as suspended keepsakes, and in my photographic study through microscope images of water samples and organic material. These images often become sources for both object-making and time-based projection installations.
My video and projection work draws from a long-standing interest in microscopic observation and environmental systems. Earlier projects explored themes like neural degeneration through time-lapse microscope footage. Today, this observational process continues in my studio as a kind of personal fieldwork, one that allows decay, fluidity, and the unseen to become active materials in the work.
My future practice includes proposals for site-specific installations and artist residencies. I’m especially interested in creating temporary, responsive pieces using locally gathered materials, water specimens, and ecological observation. Some works are intended to exist only for the duration of an exhibition, preserving the moment, the space, and the interaction itself. Given the right venue, I am prepared to scale or adapt the work across formats: sculptural collections, microscope-based projections, and ephemeral arrangements.
After stepping back from exhibitions during the pandemic to focus on healthcare work and sustainable farming, I returned to the studio with a deeper sense of purpose. My recent work is the result of that integration: art as both archive and offering, grounded in care, curiosity, and the strange beauty of what we leave behind.
